My wife and I were staying overnight at a local hotel on Robson Street, Vancouver. While waiting to check in, we decided to stop by PappaRoti for a quick snack. We’ve been here a couple of times before, but this is our first time reviewing it. Although the café is owned by non-Malaysians, it still holds a strong connection to Malaysia through its origins, which adds to its appeal. When we arrived around 2:30 PM, there was only one other table occupied—not surprising given the time of day. The place was clean and well-maintained, including the washrooms, which I always appreciate. For our order, my wife chose a plain roti with black coffee, while I went for the kaya roti and a latte. When our food arrived, I noticed that my kaya bun was significantly larger than my wife's plain roti—not that I was complaining. Lol. My latte came with a nice design, adding a little extra touch to the experience. The food was great. Both buns were light, crispy on the outside, and soft inside. The drinks were well-made, and I enjoyed the flavor of my latte. The café itself had a cozy and quiet atmosphere, making it a nice spot to relax. One suggestion I have is regarding the kaya roti. It already has a natural sweetness, so adding honey glaze on top made it a bit overwhelming. It might be better as an optional side drizzle rather than applied by default. Another small issue was the placement of the cutlery wrapped in a napkin on the plate. Since the honey was already drizzled on the plate, it stuck to the napkin, making it a bit messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and we’ll likely be back again.

This place is often full which makes sense because their coffee buns are delicious and it's a great hang out spot. It's soft and a little salty on the inside so it's better to have it while it's still warm. Either order the plain OG bun or try the ones with different toppings! A must try! If you don't want their coffee buns, they also offer sandwiches, pastries, and ice cream buns!

It has been awhile since I visited this place. The Coffee Buns are still as good as I remember it. Nice and soft with just the right sweetness. I ordered the Green Tea Ice Cream Buns for 10CAD. The green tea ice cream was delicious, better than I expected. It was creamy, not too sweet and it doesn’t have that “grassy” taste from green tea. The service was fast and the staff was very nice. The place was larger than most cafe. Lots of seating.

My absolute go to in the area. Great location and atmosphere, Recently renovated with spacious seating. Buns are great, have their own special bun and they taste amazing. Lotus bun with ice cream is the best. Service is very good and all staff are very professional and serving fast. Prices are decent, $10-12 for buns

Welcome to PappaRoti, a vibrant culinary gem nestled at 1505 Robson St, Vancouver, BC. Known for its signature coffee buns, PappaRoti blends Malaysian roots with a cozy atmosphere that invites you to indulge and unwind. The café may be managed by non-Malaysians, yet it resonates with the authentic flavors and warmth of Malaysian culture.

As you step inside, you'll find a well-maintained space that boasts a clean environment and a welcoming ambiance. Customers rave about the delightful coffee buns, which are nothing short of a sensation. From the classic plain bun to more adventurous toppings like the enticing kaya or the inventive berry mascarpone, every bite offers a delightful contrast of crispness on the outside and fluffiness within. Each bun is best enjoyed warm, offering a subtle saltiness that perfectly complements the rich flavors of your drink.

PappaRoti’s drink menu, featuring options like expertly crafted lattes and robust black coffee, pairs perfectly with their pastries. The café also offers a variety of sandwiches, pastries, and even ice cream buns, ensuring that there’s something for every palate. Many visitors share their approval of the well-executed service and captivating desserts, making it a noteworthy stop whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a leisurely treat.

One point to consider, as suggested by patrons, is the honey glaze on the kaya roti—while delicious, some found its sweetness overwhelming when drizzled excessively. A more tailored approach, allowing the glaze as an optional addition, might enhance the experience. Additionally, though the café’s cleanliness is praised, small adjustments, such as better placement of cutlery, could elevate the overall dining experience.

With its diverse offerings and inviting atmosphere, PappaRoti is not merely a café, but a delightful gathering spot brimming with charm. So whether you're a local or just visiting Vancouver, make sure to stop by PappaRoti—you won’t want to miss the opportunity to taste what everyone's talking about!
